Lions Win Fourth Straight, Advance in Section 5AA Tournament
The Providence Academy Lions continued their impressive postseason run Tuesday night, defeating Dassel-Cokato 3-2 in an eight-inning thriller to extend their winning streak to four games.
In a game that required extra innings to determine a winner, the Lions once again found a way to come through in a pressure-packed situation. The victory improves Providence Academy's record to 16-8 on the season and keeps their momentum rolling as they continue their journey through the Section 5AA Tournament.
The story of the night was senior pitcher Logan Foster, who delivered a dominant performance on the mound. Foster threw all eight innings, allowing just two runs—only one of them earned—while surrendering just two hits and striking out eight batters. His outing continued a remarkable stretch of consistency, as he has now gone eight consecutive appearances without allowing more than one earned run.
At the plate, the Lions received contributions throughout the lineup. Five different players recorded hits in the victory, helping generate the offense needed to secure the win. JJ Rooney led the way offensively, going 2-for-3 and scoring a run. It marked Rooney's highest hit total in a game since April.
The win comes on the heels of Providence Academy's 14-9 victory over Southwest Christian and further highlights the resilience of a team that has found its stride at the right time. During their current four-game winning streak, the Lions have defeated Legacy Christian Academy, Holy Family Catholic, Southwest Christian, and Dassel-Cokato while outscoring their opponents 32-13.
After capturing their third consecutive IMAC Conference Championship earlier this season, the Lions continue to demonstrate why they have been one of the area's most successful programs.
Congratulations to Coach Patterson, the coaching staff, and the entire Lions baseball team on another exciting postseason victory.
Go Lions!
